I submitted a few product ideas to Edison Nation. There are a LOT of Edison Nation junkies who subscribe to this genius marketing ploy so using their forums to point out any shortcommings doesn't work.

They sign up subscibers by the boatload and charge a small fee for submissions. All well and good if legit. But what % of their income is derived from actual licensing? I see very light duty, non-costly type ideas make it through occasionally but have to believe it's only to keep up their seeming credibility.

I can tell you from experience that the competing patent search results they use to decline your submission aren't even close to what you'd expect. You would have to be an *** to think that what they found as existing patents are anywhere close to what a genuine patent attorney would agree with - just about anything and everything that're barely in the ball park going back as far as the 1800's.

Anyway, "you get what you pay for" still applies. Edison Nation and a couple of bucks will still get you a cup of coffee.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Grand Forks, North Dakota

As of 3/15/2015, not only will federal officials (uspto/ftc, etc) be notified of the fraudulent/misleading business practices of "Edison" but in addition, hospital systems/ trade organizations will me notified and a federal lawsuit will be filed against the company pertaining to their "luring" of Vulnerable inventors seeking to take their patent to market. Listed in federal documents will be the demand of the company's records to ensure their collected "fees" do not coincide with the theft of altered patent submissions.
